Matthew D. Gilbert

Matthew D. Gilbert joined Gadsden Schneider & Woodward LLP in August 2021 and became a partner of the firm in July 2023. With more than 20 years of experience in estate planning and estate and trust administration, Matt helps individuals and families create estate plans tailored to their unique circumstances, taking into account tax planning, wealth preservation, and other goals. In addition, Matt routinely advises individual and corporate fiduciaries in all aspects of estate and trust administration.

Matt currently serves as president of the Chester County Estate Planning Counsel. He has presented to the Philadelphia Bar Association Probate and Trust Section on estate and gift tax valuation as well as to estate planning councils and other organizations on topics such as powers of attorney and professional responsibility. Matt co-authored an article on planning for incapacity for the NAEPC Journal of Estate & Tax Planning. He completed Class III of the prestigious Mid-Atlantic Fellows Institute of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel (ACTEC), and has been recognized as a “top lawyer” by Main Line Today. Matt frequently participates in Wills for Heroes events in Chester County, volunteering his time to provide pro bono estate planning services to first responders and veterans.

Prior to joining GadsdenSchneider & Woodward, Matt practiced estate planning and estate and trust administration at a boutique law firm in Villanova, Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree and College Park Scholars citation from the University of Maryland in 2001, where he was a varsity student athelete, and received a Juris Doctor in 2004 from Temple University Beasley School of Law.

Matt lives with his wife and two sons in Malvern, Pennsylvania. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
